Give From Your Heart Banner
Our ongoing CSR focus is on the health and wellbeing of children in our community. This involves helping to support their mental health, put food on the table and ensure they feel included.

As we launch our fall ‘Give from Your Heart’ campaign, we’re asking all of you to think about the kids and help send some support their way. Our partnership with the United Way makes it easy; and you can give what you can. Any amount, even a one-time $5 donation to United Way charity funds, can help trigger our corporate donations. If 50% of employees donate, that’s a $5,000 company donation to each one of our partner charities!

Steps to Complete Your Gift:

  1. Browse United Way funds and Allianz partner charities below.
  2. Click the donation you wish to make using the Links Provided OR enter a Total/Year gift in the Amount box below (can be one-time or later divided into monthly payments). The items you choose will then appear in your Cart at the top right of your screen.
  3. Click "View Cart" (Menu on mobile devices) at the top right of your screen once you are ready to proceed to the review and checkout screens.
  4. Upon checkout, you can select Payroll Deduction or Credit Card, then will be taken to your pledge verification screen, at which time you can indicate your gift preferences, e.g. gift in honour of a special person/teacher, or in memory of someone else.
  5. Feel great that you are helping your community!

Poverty

We love where we live but poverty is hurting our community. Taking a stand against poverty means starting with housing - like providing safe shelter or eviction prevention. It also means addressing food availability, and building skills for success like adult literacy and afterschool programs.

Equity

Not all community members have equitable access to available opportunities. This is because of language, available resources, experiences with systemic discrimination, historical trauma, and other factors. Help support opportunities geared to where people are through grassroots neighbourhood development programs, culturally appropriate food and family supports, mental health services and more.

Climate Change

Climate change is inextricably linked to poverty, hunger, and overall health. The wealthier you are the more you can weather the effects of climate change. Help support programs to reduce the environmental impact of food waste and increase food security, and create equitable access to land for marginalized communities.

Improving Mental Health Fund

You can help people, young and old, improve coping skills, increase self-esteem and set meaningful goals for the future. Your gift will be directed to programs and services that provide mental health supports, emergency support in times of distress, and help build resiliency. Examples include: therapeutic counselling, harm reduction and mentorship services.

Basic Needs Fund

You can help people in this community access basic and essential needs that many of us take for granted. Whether in need of a place to stay safe and warm, a meal to fill a tummy, training to access employment, or transportation to attend personal appointments, everyone in this community deserves support. United Way WRC supported programs are there to help.

Addressing Addiction Fund

We have seen a dramatic increase in opioid use in Waterloo Region. Opioid use affects the person struggling with addiction, and their families. Your gift will be directed to programs and services that help people cope with and recover from addictions. Examples include: addictions counselling and referral, opioid education, and harm reduction and prevention strategies.

Ending Isolation Fund

Poverty is the root cause of chronic loneliness, isolation, and feelings of disconnect. Your gift will be directed to programs and services that improve access to supports and create strong, cohesive neighbourhoods that help people in times of need. Examples include: referral services, senior's supports, neighbourhood led activities, and leadership development.

General Community Fund

Can’t decide which fund to give to? Consider our General Community Fund. Your gift will go to agencies working tirelessly in the areas of mental health, food security, and social isolation. Examples include: supports for those at-risk of homelessness, access to food, literacy and training, crisis supports, information referral, collaborative networks, and so much more.

Conestoga College

Did you know that donations to the United Way campaign can be designated to a charity of your choice? We invite you to consider designating your donations to a Conestoga’s program or a student award fund.
